Our sense of hearing is explored in some depth using this interactive Learning Board. Sound travels as invisible waves through the air but these can be observed as the sound vibrations hit the tiny beads in a clear tube on the front of the board.
Buttons allow the child to explore various features of sound too including volume, pitch and the variety of sounds we can identify such as a dog barking, birds singing and water running. A view is given of the inner ear and the way sounds are collected and the tiny vibrations sent as messages to the brain to identify. When sounds get too loud, the board shows us the need to protect our ears by wearing ear defenders.
